The press statement reads by the Head of Town Planning, Edidiong Edoho, (UCCDA) announcing the intentive romoval of shanties and the continuation of demolition exercise in the following areas
1. In compliance with the guidelines for orderliness as stipulated in Cap 158, Part 2 of the laws of Akwa Ibom State, the management of the Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) announces an intensive demolition and clearance exercise targeting shanties, containers, illegal structures, and unauthorized developments.
2. This exercise is part of the ARISE AGENDA of the Governor,His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno and our ongoing commitment to maintaining the aesthetics, serenity and setting a formidable background for building a Smart Capital City and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents
3. The demolition and clearance operation will cover the following major routes:
A. Oron Road to Udom Emmanuel Boulevard - Airport Road- Ring Road 3 Junction
B. Abak Road to Ikót Óku Ikono Flyover
C.Nwaniba Road to Ring Road 3, Rotary (Idongesit Nkanga Avenue)
D. Aka Road to Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard Rotary (Ring Road 3
E. Ikot Ekpene Road to Itam Junction.
F.The exercise will commence on Tuesday, June 18, 2024
5. Accordingly, All property owners and occupants along these routes are hereby notified to remove any illegal structure and unauthorized development immediately to avoid inconvenience and penalties. Defaulters will have their properties confiscated, and these will only be released upon payment of the approved penalty fee.
6. Meanwhile,The UCCDA seeks the cooperation and understanding of the public in this essential exercise to improve the urban landscape and uphold the laws governing our city development.
7.Finally, The Uyo Capital City Development Authority is dedicated to the structured and sustainable development of Uyo, ensuring the city remains a vibrant, safe, and attractive place to live, work, and do business.
