GOV ENO REASSURES ON INCLUSIVITY AS UYO WIDOW GETS NEW HOME


Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has declared his administration’s resolve to ensuring people of the State benefit from the state's resources, promising that he will achieve the projected 400 homes intended for vulnerable people across the state before 2027 amid other lofty programmes contained in the ARISE Agenda.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Frank Archibong gave the assurance while handing over a fully furnished ARISE compassionate home and a 500,000 Naira business support grant to a vulnerable widow, Madam Comfort Michael Johnson, from Ikot Ekpeyak Ikono in Uyo Local Government Area. 

The widow, Madam Comfort Johnson, who lost her husband over three decades ago, while pouring praises and blessings on Governor Eno, recounted how her son who was her only hope for a decent shelter died and was buried last year.

In a project overview, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Services, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, shared a heartwarming story about the beneficiary, painting a picture of how bad her situation was, when they arrived.

Stakeholders, led by the Political Leader and Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah represented by his wife, Dr. Inemesit Uwah, described the Governor as a compassionate leader who has touched the lives of the downtrodden and less privileged members of society, and  commended his developmental strides.

The event featured donations of business support from stakeholders to complement the Governor's magnanimity and showcase the people’s appreciation for the Governor's compassionate disposition.

Police arrested a driver who stole his employer's car and later gave testimony in church

The Lagos State Police Command busted several criminal suspects recently. Among them was 36-year-old Amos Daniel, who was caught after stealing his employer’s vehicle on his first day as a driver. Daniel admitted to taking the car to his church to share a testimony of divine provision.

In another case, ex-soldiers Akeem Suleiman and Abdulau Mohammed, along with two civilians, were arrested for their involvement in a robbery gang that operated while wearing military attire. The police found military headgear, uniforms, and identity cards in the possession of the dismissed soldiers.

 Also, a 25-year-old suspect named Thankgod Kesh-David was apprehended for posing as a roadside mechanic and then stealing the vehicles he was supposed to repair.

During a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja, SP Benjamin Hudenyin stated, “We have successfully captured a robbery gang that specialized in carjackings in Lagos. The gang, consisting of four members, including two ex-soldiers dismissed in 2014 and 2017, used full military gear during their criminal activities.”

LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS: COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY THE IBESIKPO ASUTAN PDP STAKEHOLDERS MEETING HELD ON THE 29TH DAY OF JUNE, 2024.

In pursuant to the Peoples Democratic Party’s aims and objectives to foster EQUITY, FAIRNESS, JUSTICE and FAIRPLAY for the togetherness and peaceful co-existence among members, the major stakeholders in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government at the end of the meeting held on Saturday, 29th June,2024, at the residence of the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Nsikan Linus Nkan, reviewed the political configuration of the Local Government focusing on the forthcoming Local Government Council Polls especially regarding the zoning of the Chairmanship position as well as councillorship and women consideration as directed by the Leader of the party, His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno during his last meeting with party stakeholders in Government House.  
The meeting of the Major Stakeholders in Ibesikpo Asutan ended with the following resolutions:

1. The Stakeholders having witnessed the transformational Leadership of His Excellency Pastor Bassey Eno’s one year in office and various projects well spread across the entire state and in Ibesikpo Asutan in particular have unanimously resolved to support the Governorship position of Akwa Ibom State with His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for eight (8) years. 
2. The Major Stakeholders reaffirmed its commitment to the politics of Equity, Fairness and Justice.

3. The Stakeholders unanimously resolved that the chairmanship position in the forthcoming Local Government Elections is zoned to IBESIKPO CLAN, precisely Former IBESIKPO WARD 4 INEC creation now IBESIKPO WARD 5 by AKISIEC creation.

4. The Stakeholders in collaboration with the Party’s hierarchy in the Local Government, having observed that the four (4) other Wards in IBESIKPO by INEC Creation, having enjoyed high political offices as follows:

IBESIKPO I: (Chairman of Local Government – Dr. Emaeyak Ukpong, 1996, (House of Representatives- Dr. Emaeyak Ukpong, 1999) 
(House of Assembly – Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko 2015-2023 – (8years).
IBESIKPO II:(House of Assembly -Late Barr. Umoh Udonwa, 1999) (Chairman of Local Government – Apostle Ekpe James, 2012).

IBESIKPO III:(Chairman of Local Government- Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, 2004)  (Hon. Special Adviser/Commissioner in the State Executive Council – 2012-2016.

IBESIKPO IV: (NIL - NO )

IBESIKPO V: (House of Assembly – Late Obong Ekpewo Ekpo 2007)
(Hon. Commissioner in the State Executive Council – Late Barr. Comfort Etuk 2012-2016).
In light of the above, Party Leaders and Major Stakeholders in the Local Government by their wisdom and good conscience have unanimously zoned the Chairmanship position to former IBESIKPO WARD 4, now IBESIKPO WARD 5 by AKISIEC Creation for Equity, Fairness and Justice.

Councillorship zoning of different wards were ratified as follows:
1. IBESIKPO I  –  Ikot Iko Village (Woman Consideration)
2. IBESIKPO II  –  Ikot Eto Village
3. IBESIKPO III  –  Nung Udoe Village (Woman Consideration)
4 IBESIKPO IV  - Ikot Essien Village
5. IBESIKPO V  -     Oku Ikot Edaha Village (Woman Consideration) 
6. IBESIKPO VI  –  Afaha Ikot Owob Village 
7. ASUTAN I  -  AKpautong Village
8. ASUTAN II   –  Ikot Akpaso Village (Woman Consideration)
9. ASUTAN III  –  Ikot Obio Ata Village
10.  ASUTAN IV  –  Ikot Atanguma Village
11. ASUTAN V  –  Ikot Mbride Village
12. ASUTAN VI  –  Ikot Nkwo Village
