The Governors of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, and Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, have just arrived at the Nigeria Governors' Forum Head Office in Abuja for a scheduled meeting.

Led by Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, the NGF will be deliberating on various issues including the new minimum wage and local government autonomy.

The governors had previously rejected the Federal Government's proposed minimum wage of N62,000, citing concerns that some states would have to borrow to meet salary obligations.

Despite this, organized labor is still advocating for a minimum wage of N250,000.

In response to the postponement of the minimum wage discussion by the Federal Executive Council to allow for wider consultations by President Bola Tinubu, the governors opted to convene an emergency meeting.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government's legal battle at the Supreme Court against the 36 state governors, seeking to uphold full autonomy for local governments, remains unresolved.
