LG POLLS: HON.EDIDIONG INYANG EMERGES PDP CHAIRMANSHIP CANDIDATE FOR IBESIKPO ASUTAN LGA

Ahead of the October 5th Local Government Elections in Akwa Ibom State,Hon.Edidiong Inyang has emerged the Chairmanship candidate  of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.

The nomination exercise which was held at the council secretariat, Nung Udoe, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, had Mr.Godswill Ekpenyong as the returning officer.

Hon.Edidiong Inyang,in a free,fair and transparent exercise, pulled the highest number of votes to emerge the candidate of the party.

The returning officer, Mr.God'swill Ekpenyong declared Edidiong Inyang  winner of the nomination exercise having scored the highest number of valid votes cast by the accredited delegates selected from all the wards of the LGA.

Speaking immediately after the exercise,The Chairmanship Candidate while being grateful to God Almighty for making the nomination process a success, thanked the Governor of Akwa Ibom State,Pst.Umo Eno,and the stakeholders of Ibesikpo Asutan,to have found him worthy to lead the local government. 

Furthermore,Hon.Inyang thanked God Almighty for what he has done in his life so far, 
"By the grace of God, i have served as a director of protocols, Akwa Ibom State youths caucus,Ibesikpo Asutan council secretary and vice chairman respectively and during these times by God's special Grace I have touched lives",he stated.

Hon.Inyang while thanking the delegates for their votes,promised a people-oriented and friendly administration. He also extended his appreciation to the stakeholders,Elders,the entire PDP faithfuls and the people of Ibesikpo Asutan for coming out enmass to show support and solidarity,promising not to change from who he was and who he was known for now that another feather has been added unto him.

Speaking further,He admonished the youths of the area to be well organised as he is ready as always to lead a youth-friendly administration," he stated.

Hon.Inyang while applauding Governor Umo Eno and the leadership of the People's Democratic Party for a free,peaceful,transparent and fair nomination,also extended a hand of fellowship to other chairmanship aspirants who were in the contest with him,reiterating to work collectively with them to ensure Unity,peace and development in the Local Government Area.

Protests: Military’ll step in if breaches continue – CDS

The Nigerian military on Friday said it may intervene in controlling the looting crisis and identify its sponsors in the ongoing nationwide hunger protest, tagged #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, said this during a press conference in Abuja on Friday.

Musa said, “We are supporting the police all through. We are just on standby. The police is doing a good job; they are handling the situation for now.

“Unless it breaches beyond what they can handle, then the military will step in. The military is on standby and we are watching day and night.”
